CitySearch aquired the widely known and locally touted Metrobeat in 1996 as a way to expand its
online city listings guide to New York City. Along with the purchase of Metrobeat CitySearch
aquired innovations created by Software & Design. These
technologies supported the early days of CitySearch New York and were used to improve
technology in the other CitySearch markets.
After acquiring Metrobeat, CitySearch contracted to help
architect and design the next generation of in-house content management and editorial tools to be distributed to editorial staffs across
the CitySearch enterprise.
Software & Design's role as a systems integrator
was also critical to CitySearch's success in New York. The team
designed, implemented and maintained a data bridge between two separate systems until CitySearch had time to ramp up its internal
resources and software development to provide the next generation of editorial tools and web publication software.
