The New Essential Web Site and BlogIt's been over eight years since the last launch of our corporate web site. So although you served us well it's time to say adieu, off to the land of archives.
I'm happy to report the long-awaited (at least by me) release of our new web site and technology blog.
The new web site is a culmination of much of what we've been working on the last several years, and together with its partner sites, Work Messages, and Work Messages CMS, this new site constitutes the backbone of our plan for development and growth over the next several years.
Essential has always had its focus on best-of-breed technologies. In the open source marketplace forces tend to coalesce around particular movements or projects that for one reason or another gain popularity and momentum. Most of the time the reasons are practical, and the useful technology finds its users.
We've now refocused our business around three of what we consider to be the most important Open Source technologies in the world today. They are:
Zimbra - an amazing bundle of server technologies that is changing equations around email
Asterisk - the PBX revolution has arrived. Every business should use this software.
Drupal - Though not the only such solution, a CMS with a large contributing community
While Essential will always be dedicated to research and development it helps us to narrow in on fundamental core technologies that we can leverage for our customers. With the above three examples we think we've found our zone.
